College Internships at Citi Performing Arts Center offer a variety of responsibilities and learning experiences, including assisting with the implementation of community workshops and programs; communicating with teaching artists and workshop participants; and working cooperatively and collaboratively with members of the education staff on large-scale projects and administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in arts education and administration, and in working with the community, professional teaching artists, and young people. In collaboration with Boston Public Schools, the Education Department conducts artist residencies focusing on the performing arts. Teaching Artists conduct an in-depth residency with students culminating in a performance sharing at the school. At a time when arts dollars are being cut from school budgets, the Education Department at Citi Performing Arts Center strives to fill the gap in arts education and to play a leadership role in arts program delivery and resource coordination.
In the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011, Citi Performing Arts Center partnered with Boston Public Schools in the "Target Arts Program," an artist residency and ticket access program generously funded by a grant to the BPS from the Target Corporation. The goal of the program was to improve school success, engage families and strengthen community by providing access to Boston's rich offerings of music, dance, visual arts, theater and cultural events. More than 2,000 students in selected schools gained greater exposure to Boston's theater district through the residencies and associated ticket access.

Each year, the SpectrumBoston Ticket Access Program serves more than 150 Community Partners. In 2009-2010, our SpectrumBoston Access Fund provided over 2,800 tickets for children and families to experience world-class talent on our stages. Ticket recipients are from communities that would not otherwise have the opportunity or the funding to share in a singular, unforgettable moment in live performance. The Education Department typically distributes a study guide to the Community Partners to prepare their groups for the performance.
